the application of one material over another to provide a skin or layer.
Cladding is an installation that brings together Charys Wilson & Hazel O’Sullivan in Catalyst Arts to look at the concern in how material qualities are sensed, interpreted and understood to form space. The installation responds to our collective thoughts on materials and how we blur the boundaries between memory, light and object, encouraging the audience to develop their own thoughts on how we facilitate comfort within our interior and exterior worlds.

Charys Wilson
Every day we are presented with false realities and the line between what's real and unreal becomes increasingly blurred. In response to climate change and widespread precarity, my work is focused on our relationship with the natural world; exploring manmade interiors, bringing the outside in, and inside out.
Hazel O’Sullivan
Referencing the stark differences between the worlds my parents grew up in and the worlds I grew up in, my works take on uncanny forms that explore transmutations of anachronistic household objects taken from memory, family photos and global images. By reassessing an assortment of interior traditions, I present a shuffle-mode miscellany of collective memory longing for a more innocent age.
