Day Out For The Daleks

15/01/98-07/02/98

This show took place at the Proposition Gallery, Belfast.  The show featured an artist for each of the bodily senses.  Kate Gray - touch, Roger McKinley - taste, Shane Whelehan - Sight, Susan Phillipz - Sound and Joanna Fursman - Smell.  The exhibition dealt with themes surrounding the idea of the modern world, automation, computers interfacing our contact with the environment and the depletion of our ability to sense.  Issues such as whether we are becoming sensitised to different and possibly larger range of stimuli  through our contact with new technology and that perhaps we are able to sense what previously would have been non - sense. This project then toured around five schools with a workshop at each by one of the artists.
