Super 8

A two part exhibition featuring Super 8 films and paintings by the then 8-strong management committee of Catalyst Arts.

Artists: Duncan Campbell, Siofra Campbell, Derval Fitzgerald, Sandra Johnston, Dougal McKenzie, Eilis O’Baoill, Mark Orange and Karen Vaughan.

Super 8

The Management Committee of Catalyst Arts - all practising artists -will be kicking back with the first exhibition of 1995 at Exchange Place.

In 2 parts, Super-8 Part 1 will feature new 8mm film projections and Part II new paintings.

These media don’t represent any of the media practises of the individual committee members.

What we want to achieve is an exhibition with a coherent, conceptual basis rather than “The Committee of Catalyst Arts” transporting work from their studio practises. On one level it will simply show work by the people who have been involved in the day to day running of Exchange Place. It will also set a standard of exhibitions at the gallery as challenging assumed notions of what a ‘group show’ in a 'gallery' means.
